Abstract

Racism is the belief that groups of human being possess different behavioral traits corresponding to physical appearance, and can be divided based on the superiority of one race over another. It also includes prejudice, discrimination, antagonism, nativism, xenophobia, otherness, segregation, hierarchical ranking and supremacism. In this paper through To Kill a Mockingbird an attempt has been made to depict the racism prevailed in American society. The novel presents racism in Maycomb society where most of the people belong to different races.
