Abstract

The Micro, Small and Medium Enterprises (MSMEs) in India constitute an important segment of Indian economy over the last five decades. It makes a significant contribution to industrial production, annual GDP growth, export earnings, providing large employment opportunities regional development, economic diversification, and social stability. In an environment of sustained high economic growth, economic reforms and opening of the Indian economy, the role and the importance of the MSME sector have become more significant. The MSME sector is characterized by low investment and technology requirement operational flexibility, location wise mobility, and import substitutions. Micro, Small and Medium Enterprises (MSMEs) have been playing an important role in the overall economic development of a country like India and have the advantage of providing gainful employment opportunities with less investment and through the dispersal of industries into rural, semi-urban and backward areas with reduce regional disparities
